Why Food Reserves?
Perhaps you are familiar with Aesop’s fable of “The Grasshopper and the Ant.”
In a field one summer's day a Grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart's content. An Ant passed by, bearing along with great toil an ear of corn he was taking to the nest.
"Why not come and chat with me," said the Grasshopper, "instead of toiling and moiling in that way?"
"I am helping to lay up food for the winter," said the Ant, "and recommend you to do the same."
"Why bother about winter?" said the Grasshopper; we have got plenty of food at present." But the Ant went on its way and continued its toil.
When the winter came the Grasshopper found itself dying of hunger, while it saw the ants distributing, every day, corn and grain from the stores they had collected in the summer.
Then the Grasshopper knew... It is best to prepare for the days of necessity.
“Dying” is a hard way to learn a lesson in self-reliance.
Disney in 1934 did an animated version with a softer ending – presumably for children. In it, the weak and starving grasshopper turns up on the door front of the ants and begs for help. The warm, well-fed, happy and well-stocked ants have mercy on the grasshopper and offer him food and shelter in exchange for work.
In either case, the lesson is clear. It’s better to be an ant than a grasshopper!

Sometimes it’s a personal “Winter” that we face:

Using only the finest sun-ripened and fresh produce grown and harvested under strict supervision, we go to great care to make certain that every tasty tidbit retains its nutritional value and delivers sound nutrition when needed most. Our proprietary Assurance Packaging envelops our low-heat dehydrated foods with a powerful light barrier that protects the food from potential sun damage. Flushed with carbon dioxide during the sealing process, the ingredients are also protected from oxidation. This represents the gold standard for storable foods and our average shelf life ranges from 15 on the low end to 25 years on the high end.
Without compromise, our foods are simply delicious! Quick to fix, they are also ready to eat in 10 to 20 minutes – just add boiling water! Choices include a gourmet line of breakfast foods, baked goods, dairy, entrees and some of the most amazing soups on the planet. At eFoods Global, food safety starts with our strategic partnerships we have established with both growers and manufacturers. We source ingredients from growers who follow Good Agricultural Practices and are GAP Certified. This means that they are audited frequently to ensure that they do not use harmful insecticides, pesticides or fertilizers during cultivation. Furthermore, GAP certification ensures proper controls over the quality of water used for irrigation, animal access to crops and proper disposal of any raw waste, equipment sanitation, sanitary facilities for workers, transportation sanitation, storage sanitation, handling sanitation, and more.
When the ingredients arrive at our FDA registered facility that is also certified GMP for Good Manufacturing Practices; they are carefully tested for chemical and microbial contaminants like salmonella and e-coli. Approved ingredients are then blended into our exclusive formulas following strict quality control standards established and audited by the US Department of Agriculture. We strictly adhere to HCAAP standards for food handling and manufacturing safety.
All our products are non-genetically modified, and where possible, we request organic ingredients. We never add questionable substances like MSG or hydrogenated oil.
